Counsel / Avocat à la Cour

“A lawyer is to a trial what a cook is to a meal”

– Aristippus.

This proverb highlights the key role played by a lawyer in ensuring the successful outcome of a legal case. Just as a chef prepares, combines and showcases ingredients to create a delicious meal, a lawyer analyses the facts, builds a solid case and defends their client’s interests in court. Without the chef, a meal risks being poorly prepared; without the lawyer, a defence may lack clarity, strategy and effectiveness. This proverb thus highlights the importance of skill, preparation and expertise in fields where success depends as much on competence as on mastery of the art.
